    Starting with the first day of the month after your grace month, penalty is assessed at the rate of $1.00 per day up to a maximum of $100.00 for 100 days of penalty.

    Vehicle Transfers

    Starting with the thirty first (31st) day after the notary date on your title, penalty is assessed as follows:

    New Vehicle

    Penalty is assessed at the rate of $1.00 per day on the excise tax with a maximum of matching the excise tax itself. Penalty is assessed on sales tax at the statutory rate. Penalty is assessed on the tag at the rate of $1.00 per day up to a maximum of $100.00 for 100 days of penalty.

    Used Vehicle

    Penalty is assessed at the rate of $1.00 per day on the excise tax with a maximum of matching the excise tax itself. Penalty is assessed on sales tax at the statutory rate. A second penalty on transfer of registration is assessed at the rate of $1.00 per day with a maximum of $100.00 for 100 days of penalty.

    Can penalties may be waived?

    Tag Renewals

    No. Penalties always apply starting on the first day of the month after your grace month.

    Year 5-8 $86 + 1.50 + applicable mail fee
    Year 9-12 $66 + 1.50 + applicable mail fee
    Year 13-16 $46 + 1.50 + applicable mail fee
    Year 17-up $26 + 1.50 + applicable mail fee

    Additional Fees

    * Penalty: accrues @ $1 per day beginning on the first day of the month after your grace month

    * Credit Card: State of Oklahoma accesses a convenience fee of $2 + 2.25& for debit/credit card

  • Yes. During the renewal process, you have the option of getting a new plate. A $4 fee is assessed.

  • Yes. Oklahoma law requires a current registration be kept in the vehicle.

  • Yes. If your vehicle is inoperable, State law still requires the registration to be current.

    Failure to keep the registration current will result in penalties.

    During the registration process, select No Insurance. You will be issued a Non-Use (Black) decal.

    Once your vehicle is operable and you obtain Oklahoma insurance, you can update the tag back to Street-Use. The fee is $10.50
