  • Step 1 - Sign and Notarize Your Title

    If you have the title, you will need to sign and have your signature notarized.

    Where to sign

    If multiple owners are listed on the title joined with the word “AND” all owners will need to sign the title and appear before a notary.

    If the title has multiple owners joined with the word “OR” or “AND/OR” any one of the owners may sign off the title to sell.

    All of our agents are bonded notaries.

    If you have lost your title, you will need to file for a duplicate.

    You can applied in person at our office or online.

    Duplicate / Lost Title $11 + notary + applicable mail fee

    If your title is being held by your lender, you will need to arrange with the lender to make any payoff amount to receive your title from them.

    Step 2 - Keep your Plate
    Effective July 2019, when you sell or trade a vehicle, you keep your plate and transfer it to your new vehicle. Get more information on Keep My Plate.

    Step 3 - File a Notice of Transfer (optional)
    A filed Notice of Transfer updates the vehicle record with Service Oklahoma indicating the vehicle has been sold. The name and address of the new owner as well as the date of sale are filed. A filed Notice of Transfer protects you by making it easy for Law Enforcement, Toll Authorities and other agencies to determine ownership liability if the new owner fails to transfer the title into their name in a timely manner.

  • Step 1 - Get a clear, signed and notarized title from the seller
    Insure the seller can you provide you with a clean title free of any liens.

    We can help you verify the title is clear of liens by calling M-F, 9am to 5:30pm

    Step 2 - Obtain your vehicle insurance.

    Before you can transfer the title into your name, you will need to provide your Oklahoma vehicle insurance

    Note: If you do not plan to drive the vehicle (example, project car), you can transfer the title without insurance and receive a “non-use” registration: Taxes and fees are the same.

    Step 3 - Transfer the title into your name within 30 days

    What you’ll need to transfer:

    1. Notarized title / MSO(New Vehicle)
    2. Oklahoma Insurance Card
    3. Purchase agreement / Bill of Sale (Required on New Vehicles - OPTIONAL on used vehicles)
    4. Odometer Statement
    (Not necessary if completed on the title or MSO)
    (Exempt if older than 2012 Year Model)
    5. Drivers License (Oklahoma or Out-of-State)

  • Where to sign

    Instructions for signing your Oklahoma title:

    Complete Purchaser’s Name section by PRINTING the buyers information. 


    Print your name and sign the title as the seller in the presence of a notary.

    All of our agents are notaries. 
All sellers must print and sign their name EXACTLY as it appears on the front of the title.


    Tips for Signing your Title Correctly

    Only sign in the Seller's signature section, NEVER sign in the Buyer's section.

    Sign your title exactly as your name is listed on the front of the title.

    If more than one owner is listed please look how the owner's names are listed on front of the title to determine who needs to sign :

    First Owner OR Second Owner : Only one owner needs to sign the title.

    First Owner AND Second Owner : BOTH owners needs to sign the title.

    First Owner AND/OR Second Owner : Only one owner needs to sign the title.

    First Owner Second Owner : BOTH owners needs to sign the title.

    Additional Tips for Transferring your Title Correctly

    • NEVER use white out.

    • Use only black and/or blue ink.

    • Do not rip, tear or manipulate your title.

    • Do not cross out or write over on your title. If you make a mistake give us a call, so we can help you correct it.
